About Kora
What is Kora?
An employee assistance program built for organisational change. Leaders rehearse the hard conversations a reorganisation brings and get scored against a clinical standard. You see who’s ready and where risk is building. Employees get fast, funded care.
Who is it for?
Australian organisations of 100 to 1000 people, especially those planning a reorganisation or up to 10 weeks after announcing one. It’s usually bought by the Head of People.
How is it different from our current EAP?
Your current EAP catches people after the damage. Kora does that too, and also gets your leaders ready before the conversations that cause the damage, with a score that shows they reached the standard.
Is this training? Is it an LMS?
No. There are no modules to complete. Leaders rehearse a real upcoming conversation out loud and get scored. Most rehearsals take less than 10 minutes.
We already have Copilot or ChatGPT. Why Kora?
A general AI doesn’t push back, has no standard to score against, and managers paste confidential details into it. Kora’s counterpart reacts like a real person, scores against a clinical framework, and keeps your data in Australia.
Switching from your current EAP
Can we start if we still have time left on our current contract?
Yes. Your people leaders can start rehearsing straight away, while your current EAP keeps looking after your employees. Pay a deposit, which is credited back when your EAP contract switches to Kora. When your EAP contract ends, Kora’s care takes over. Your billable contract starts at the date of switching from your previous EAP, not from the date that you started using Control and Know. If a reorganisation is coming, your leaders don’t have to wait for your renewal date.
Can we run our current EAP and Kora at the same time?
Yes, and for most organisations that’s how it starts. The two do different jobs. Your current EAP supports employees after something has gone wrong. Kora’s leader rehearsal works earlier, before the hard conversations happen. During the overlap your EAP covers employee care and Kora gets your leaders ready. Nothing competes.
How do we stop employees getting confused?
Keep one number for employee care at a time.
- Until your switch date, employees keep using your current EAP exactly as they do now. Leader rehearsal is only for your people leaders, so employees don’t see two services.
- From your switch date, the Kora app and 24/7 line are the one place employees go for support.
- We give you the staff announcement, manager talking points and the date to retire the old number, so the message stays simple.
What happens to employees already seeing a counsellor?
Nobody’s care is cut off.
- Employees in the middle of treatment can finish their remaining sessions with their current counsellor, in line with your current provider’s terms.
- Clinical notes belong to the current provider and are never moved in bulk. They move only if an employee asks in writing.
- From your switch date, anyone who needs support books through Kora. They choose their own psychologist or counsellor, with no GP referral and no bill.
How are critical incidents handled during the handover?
You’re covered every day of the handover. We agree a switch date with you, and you’ll know which provider leads critical incident response before and after it, on site or virtual. If the handover lands during a reorganisation, we’ll have critical incident support briefed for notification day.
When should we start?
Ideally 3 to 6 months before your current EAP’s notice period or renewal date. That gives you time to get leaders rehearsing if a reorganisation is planned, and choose a switch date that suits you. Already announced a reorganisation? Talk to us now. Your leaders can start before your EAP renewal comes round.
After the restructure
What do we get once the restructure is over?
Kora is your EAP, so it keeps running all year. Employees keep the 24/7 line, critical incident support, and psychologists and counsellors they book themselves with no GP referral and no bill. Your people leaders keep rehearsal, scoring and retries for the hard conversations every team has, for the whole contract.
What do leaders use rehearsal for when there’s no restructure?
The conversations that come up in any team: performance, conflict, coaching a high performer, ending employment. Leaders rehearse out loud with a counterpart who pushes back, get scored against a clinical standard, and retry until they reach it. New and newly promoted leaders can use it from their first week.
What happens when the next change comes?
You start with everything already in place. Your leaders already know how rehearsal works, your employees already have their EAP, and you can set up the next round as soon as you’re planning. Rehearsal starts before the announcement, not in a scramble afterwards. You’ll also be able to see which leaders are at the standard before anyone is told.
For your leaders
Will managers actually use it?
Leaders use it because a real conversation is already booked, and many repeat a scenario to raise their score. At kickoff we set up prompts before each conversation and help your exec team set the expectation.
My leaders already know how to have these conversations.
Then they’ll reach the standard fast, and you’ll have the evidence. Experienced leaders use it to pressure-test their approach and the hostile edge cases, not to learn from scratch.
What if a leader gets upset during a rehearsal?
Every leader is also covered by the employee assistance program and can call the 24/7 line from the app.
For your employees
Will my employer see that I used it?
No. Your employer only sees de-identified trends across the company, never names, and never for a group small enough to identify you.
Do I need a GP referral? Is there a cost?
No referral and no cost. Book a psychologist or counsellor yourself in the app, by video, phone or in person.
What if I need help right now?
Call the 24/7 line in the app. If you’re in immediate danger, call 000.
Privacy, data and risk
Can HR read the rehearsals?
No. Rehearsals stay private to the leader. You see scores and readiness, not transcripts.
Could rehearsal sessions be used against us in a claim?
Rehearsal transcripts are private to the leader and deleted after a set period. What’s kept is the record that a leader rehearsed and reached the standard, which is evidence the hazard was controlled.
Does Kora meet our WHS psychosocial obligations?
Kora helps you identify, control and review the hazards a reorganisation creates, and gives you a record for your CEO and board. Your obligations are yours. Confirm your approach with your own advisers.
Do you train AI models on our data? Where is it stored?
No. We never train AI models on your data. It’s encrypted and stored in Australia.
Do you record our live meetings?
No. Kora is for rehearsal before the conversation and care after it.
No questions match that.
